Our weekend plans didn't play out as I'd planned. But the first one did, we were invited to visit our older son Shawn's new home for the first time. We followed google maps directions and found it. :-) It's a 15 year old home in a nice neighborhood and we enjoyed a look-about and a nice long visit. On Saturday I had wanted to go to an event at the Gresham Historical Society - a man created some amazing miniatures and a big house to put them in. But it was a cold day and I had no one to go with me and I couldn't bear to leave the fireside. On Sunday I was to go visit my sister's grave with her husband Teddy and sister Denise but it was raining hard and we decided to postpone the visit for a drier day.
I thought I'd share with you the earrings I made to wear during the Autumn harvest time. I cut two narrow strips of tanned buckskin and using the peyote stitch method and Indian corn colored seed beads. These are fun to wear.
Do you read Alicia Paulson's blog Posie Gets Cozy? If not, you should check it out. She's an amazing woman and artist. She just brought out a new doll kit and mine arrived on Saturday. I look forward to many pleasant hours hand-stitching the doll together and sewing her clothes for her. You can choose the skin and hair color, I got the light skin and auburn hair. She reminds me of my little sister.
I also ordered this dress kit which also has an apron on which I will embroider flowers and will try to knit the lacy socks. I might have to make some little leather Mary Jane shoes for her, too. :-)
This was me over the weekend, working on my 2nd Dune blanket designed by Lucy at Attic24 blog. My cuddly little Cairn Terrier Mocha sleeping on my left thigh while I crocheted by the fire.
I wore my Mexican Opal ring for a while and took a photo to show you - I made this while taking jewelry classes at Mt. Hood Community College in my younger years. What is special about this is I bought the stone from my friend Loa who was a gem dealer and world traveler. We met when I lived in Hawaii and reconnected when I lived in Louisiana and she invited me to come to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and stay with her parents while there.
I got Mocha a new red bone and she is obsessed with it. She holds it between her two front paws and chews on it. Sometimes I'll walk into the family room and there is the bone, standing on end. :-)
I had to share a photo of the dinner we had after we left our son's house. Bumpers Grill is our favorite steak place. Yum.
How did your weekend go? Do share.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
